Avid has been held back from announcing plans by the Sarbanes-Oxley act. That keeps a company from recognizing current revenues until an announced feature ships. That also holds back Apple and held back Adobe until they went to the subscription model. Now Adobe is much more open about future directions and features. Hopefully Avid moving to the subscription model will have the same effect going forward.
