Hi Jeff, we own this device and I can tell you it offers the following selection for codec:
-uncompressed 10bit
-ProResHQ
-ProRes
-ProRes LT
-ProRes Proxy
-DNxHD QT
-DNxHD MXF
For DNxHD it always does the highest bitrate/quality - no choice here, but framerate dependant. so for a 23.98 input, it will record 175X and so forth.
Also, keep in mind that eventhough it accepts psF for recording, it outputs pure progressive, and there is no way to switch the output to psF.
cheers,
BG

Subject: [Avid-L2] DNxHD Options from Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio
A client is looking into getting Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio
recorders, as this device is advertised as recording to Avid DNxHD.
I have RTFM, and the only references that I see are to the wrapper (MXF or
MOV), and not to which levels of the Avid codec (DNxHD 36, 100, 145, 220)
are supported.
Some older posts on Blackmagic and Avid forums are leading me to think that
it only records in the highest quality DNxHD 220x.
Does anyone on the L2 have experience with this recorder?
If so, does it offer a choice of levels of the Avid codec?
Thanks!
