This is way simpler than is being suggested. No need to modify tape names or nothing – provided you're on 6.5 or later.

In the relink window, you can force which columns to link up. Meaning you can tell MC to relink whatever is in the TAPE column (where 3rd party transcoding apps will place the source file name) to whatever is in the SOURCE FILE column (where AMA lists the source file name).

You should be good in seconds.
