to my knowledge, trial is still valid in v7 - maybe the machine had another trial installed in the past.
Requires a full reinstall to get it working again.

Subject: [Avid-L2] MC 7 - no 30 day trial mode?
Hello world,
my colleague just installed MC 7.0.2 on a qualified Z800 machine with Win 7 Pro and lots of RAM. As a test he tried to lauch MC without dongle attached, but it refused to start. So I wonder if the 30 day trial mode is no longer available? Or is there something we're missing?
Well, we're having dongles for all our Media Composer systems (20+) and are under contract but have problems with some dongles and/or the current versioner. But I hope we have solved this issue soon and don't need a trial period as quick fix..
TIA,
Ben
