[Avid-L2] US Department of Defense Interplay / ISIS Sites

Cross-posted to the ACSR-L

Greetings all!

…trying to cast a wide net to catch a small group – Interplay / ISIS installations within the US Department of Defense, as well as any in the Spokane WA area.

We are installing Avid Interplay and ISIS 5000 at a US Dept. of Defense site in Spokane, WA. (We have been using Media Composer for several years.) We have two ACSRs on site.

Is there anyone else out there that has dealt with US Department of Defense and DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) security requirements? Specifically, has anyone worked with STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) on their Avid systems? How about the IA (Information Assurance) office saying that they will not use the Avid configuration load for the Cisco 4900M?

Has anyone been successful in getting waivers or exceptions granted, so their Avid equipment is not actively virus scanned and STIGed?

In addition, we are facing the daunting challenge of taking 14 years of video, graphics, photos, audio, supporting documents, etc. and migrating it in a meaningful and useful way into Interplay. All words of wisdom are welcome!

Initial Equipment Deployment:

- Network: US Department of Defense SIPRNET

- 6 x Avid Media Composer v7 (2 with Symphony Option and Nitris DX, 4 with Mojo DX). 5 x Dual 1GB connections to the ISIS, 1 x 10GB connection, via 4900M switch.

- 2 x Co-installations of Pro Tools 11

- 10 x Access / Assist clients in Zone 4, connected through a Nexus 5000

- 4900M Switch

- 2 x 16TB ISIS 5000, with single System Director (Resilient System Director planned for future purchase)

- Single Interplay Engine on AS3000

- Lookup Server on AS3000

- Media Indexer on AS3000

Planned Future Growth:

- Interplay Central

- Telestream Vantage

- Airspeed

- Additional ISIS storage

Please feel free to respond on or off list.

Most Sincerely,
