It does not. There is metadata in the E stream that keeps the stream consistent in relation to the video frames. My usual route here is capture the E stream, decode, then re-encode in a new frame rate and relay.

This is as far as I remember, but I'm almost 100%. If you have a decoder, you should be able to test it fairly quickly.

We do a lot of Dolby E mastering, but now a client asked if it would carry across doing a frame conversion from 23.98 to 59.94. My immediate reaction is that it should, but I have never tested this so... 


Anyone here have experience?
