[Avid-L2] Re: Cadence

For starters just make a simple sequence with say color bars starting at 1;00;00;00 and see if that punches in at the proper time code. If that's off try a basic 59.94 1080i project and see if that insert edits properly. Also on the SR deck, I'm assuming something like an SRW-5500 make sure in the vtr setup menu, A10 IIRC, check the time code sense and make sure it is set to line and not FC. Usually I address this setting when capturing from the deck when the deck is doing a format convert but it might have some effect on edit timing so it's worth checking. Bottom line first confirm that the deck is insert editing correctly when not using universal mastering then go from there. How is the deck and the edit system being sent reference? If you are sending both tri level 23.98 and 59.94 they need to be locked and have a proper phase relationship. I've seen the dual sync set up cause a frame offset on captures when the phase relationship between the 23.98 and 59.94/29.97 black reference were locked but not at the correct phase relationship.

Perhaps someone with more 23.98 to 59.94 experience can suggest if there is anything in the 24 frame/film settings that might have an impact on edit timing.

I checked my sequence and when I look at my 59.94 DF Time code window the sequence starts on the hour, and on the A frame. Has anyone else run into this issue? Is it a cadence issue.
