[Avid-L2] RE: [OT] Lion to Mountain Lion Help

Hey - I haven't found a good way to go backwards with these Apple OS updates.

For this specific case, I'd just go ahead and try the new OS.

For the future - this is what I do...

purchase and download the .0 version of the OS as soon as it comes out.

Create a USB thumbdrive installer following some instructions found online.

Keep that standing by for when you really DO want to upgrade.

Then you can always download the 'combo updates' from Apple directly rather than just through their app store.

It's a bit of a pain in the butt - but so far this has been working OK.

For example:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1640

(you can search there - just make sure to use 'combo' in your search)

Hope that helps,

Hey all,

I'm looking to update my MBP in hopes that Mountain Lion will help MC run better than it is on Lion.

I see that MC7.0.2 is qualified for 10.8.4.

The Apple store is currently selling 10.8.5:

1- Anyone running 10.8.5 with MC7, without issues?

2- I found the Apple page were I can download 10.8.4, but it states I have to have 10.8.x already installed. I'm guessing I can not go backwards too easily with the OS . . . correct?

3- Any advice on how I'm supposed to get 10.8.4?
My hope is that the download from the app store is 10.8,
and then I would simply update, but I don't see that spelled out.
It would appear that the download is 10.8.5.

TIA!

Cheers,

B
