I can see how a motion effect clip would not take on aux time code. I've seen cases where imported clips won't allow time code modification. I did play around with promoting the motion effect clip to a time warp and then the autosync creates a subclip that still shows the motion effect icon but grouping it and cutting it into a sequence as a grouped clip loses the icon even after committing multicam. As you say I do see the time code reflected correctly incrementing at 200% and a decompose creates a clip with the correct time code but I was testing on a whacky ama linked sequence and after decomposing I couldn't link back to the original media so I don't know if that was ama relinking whackyness or just plain whacyness based on what I was trying to do.
I guess there is an underlying need for group clips to maintain a frame for frame relationship that is constant which would not be the case for a motion effect clip or a time warped clip. Fun little brain teaser to play with.

The Avid can create a motion effect that will allow the MOS slow motion source to playback at the same speed as all the other camera angles with audio. The Avid will not let metadata in the Auxiliary TC1 of a motion effect clip. Avid does not allow an AutoSync, Mutigroup, or Group a motion effect clip.

If I'm understanding correctly won't these now half speed clips act like normal clips when sub clipped and multigrouped by aux time code? Do these over cranked clips end up with motion adapters when cut into a sequence like what happens when mixed frame rates are used in a sequence? I haven't had to deal with many of these clips in my day to day stuff so any enlightenment is appreciated.

Avid has a technique called multi-group that can lock the A,B,C,D, cameras in a quadrant and instead of the group ending the multi-group continues. "Bin>MultiGroup..." command even accounts for gaps by rippling them. The only way that I know of to perform the Avid MultiGroup command, is to give sub clips "Auxillary TC1" timecode and then MultiGroup those subclips.

Sometimes I would have to give 1, 2, or 3 frame handles before creating the motion effect in the source monitor, just to get the motion effect to match the offline.

What if you take the motion effect clip created from the master clip and use that clip and the audio clip to perform the autosync. I am not clear what you are trying to autosync as there is no mention of an audio clip. I must be confused.

Under the Tools menu if I bring up the "Motion Effect Editor" the Symphony does not recognize it as a motion effect. I can advance by frame and look at the timecode metadata behave like a motion effect. If I park the blue position indicator on the sequence, activate the video track and use the matchframe button, a sub clip loads in to the source monitor. If I park on the sub clip and use the matchframe button, a master clip is loaded.
