[Avid-L2] Re: Anybody Running Avid with EVGA GTX-680 Card? and GPU concerns

So it looks like the mac hack is soldering in a 512KB EFI ROM chip in place of the stock 256KB chip. Then you have to find an EFI flash code. Fun stuff but my brain hurts a little. Another potential route would be to use a lesser graphics card mac compatible and the GTX-680 in slot too but I read this would have apps other than Resolve use the lesser card unless you first install the GTX-680 in slot 1 by itself then set up the computer and then move that card to slot 2 and put the lesser card in slot one. It seems like then the slot 2 would be the primary card for all apps so I would think the lesser card would not be used in boot screen or am I missing something there. That would defeat the functionality of the lesser mac cards EFI Rom wouldn't it?

I guess when stacking extra GPU's in an expansion chassis they could be the PC version as they wouldn't be used for boot screen etc... Anybody have any idea what effect the 2GB Ram of the Mac Edition GTX-680 vs. the 4GB Ram available on the PC GTX-680 would have on overall performance?

I guess a cold solder joint would be the closest thing to the whacky intermittent software glitches that occur now and then.
