Odd one everyone:
MC Symphony, 6.5.3
Mac Pro - OS 10.7.5
ISIS 5000 4.2.x
Situation:
Media is recorded from a TriCaster (PC) 855 onto it's removeable NTFS
drives. These are HD MPEG2 (4:2:0) in a QT wrapper.
When these NTFS drives are placed into a USB Caddy and connected to the Mac
Pro, the MOV files are copied to an ISIS 5000 workspace, with admin
credentials. Files copy fine. Avid cannot AMA link to files. Avid gives
the error: "Cannot link to AMA files or volume", and suggests I don't have
the correct AMA plugins. I verify, all plugins are current for 6.5.3.
I then try and directly link to AMA files on the NTFS drives - no problem
whatsoever. Interesting. So, I then copy a file from the NTFS drive to
the Mac OS desktop, and AMA file link. Again, no issue. I then copy the
file from the Mac OS desktop to the ISIS. Same Avid error. Puzzling. I
created a new workspace and repeated results. Same errors.
I downloaded Carbon Copy Cloner, and tried to use that with the source
drive as NTFS and destination as the ISIS, and selected a handful of files.
Again, got an Avid error.
I went back to the TriCaster (PC, Windows 7), and installed an ISIS client.
Not sanctioned, but as a test. Mounted a workspace, and copied 40 files.
Windows asked me if I was OK with copying files without some of their
properties. I clicked yes, and all files copied. Avid on the Mac played
them via AMA with no issue.
I went back to the Avid, and after a failed AMA link, I looked at the
console: "Header partition not exist!"
Google Fu yields other AMA link issues with the header error message, but
they all seem to point to odd MXF or QT formats. I may buy into the bad
QT, but it ONLY happens when a Mac copies from NTFS to ISIS. PC is fine,
or media created on the Mac.
So, am I too assume some kind of OS incompatibility issues during file copy
yielding this issue? Anyone have any docs?
