JR,
What i was saying, this export exists for quite some time now, (Forgot the version it was introduced, but long time ago)
Then, the dance as described by your tech is way too complicated.
Now, the MXF you have got now is (except if it's 16:9 SD) good for delivery, but if you want to have it as an optical disc you need some more magic.
But i fail to see why anyone outside the field wants dog slow expensive cardridges in expensive players to transport a simple file...

So I tested the XDCAM MXF OP1a export and it was painless. Created a .mxf file on the desktop. I could sort of play it in VLC but the audio was choppy. I could ama link to it in Avid and play it back smoothly for QC there. That seems like a very simple process. This creates the .mxf file but not an XDCam like folder. Is it relatively easy to drag this .mxf folder into an empty XDCam folder like what was used before this export was possible? This would bypass needing to export to device wouldn't it. This is just me speculating not based on any real experience as I've never had to deliver an XDCam optical disk.

Reading it seems simple enough and if I'm understanding correctly it is just a choice in export and doesn't require the fake XDCam volume on the desktop.

I was under the impression the earlier V5 versions required using export to device or some such thing but it sounds like those versions also have the ability to do a straight export or am I misunderstanding?
