They're doing it! 999 for media composer is bigger than anyone realises.
It's easy as long time users to just see the stubborn old bugs and slightly premature releases of new systems but mc7 is a huge improvement.
The next couple of years I think will see a return to avid but lightworks is a threat at the extreme high end of features editing.
