I've tried it. Got about 75 percent into Avid. The other 25 percent was
painful. Stuff out of sync, not linking or just being strangely wrong.
X to 7 works okay. AutoDuck has been problematic lately. Ended up using
the Boris Transfer software instead. Most stuff comes through, if the edit
is pretty basic.
The problem is Final Cut Pro X uses a very different editorial paradigm and
some things just have no equivalent in Avid (or anything else, for that
matter).
Also, the nature of FCP X pretty much encourages the novice editor to just
throw everything but the kitchen sink in the timeline and just cut. Mixed
formats and frame rates..who cares..just cut. Now try to get that timeline
and footage into another system. goodnight and good luck.
Honestly, the online would be better off staying in FCPX, unless its
a straightforward cuts only edit.
If it needs better grading than can be done in FCPX, then send it to
Resolve from there. You aren't doing yourself or the project any favors
trying to get it into Avid for online.
