I just did a trimming test with the BMD Decklink HD Extreme 3D. I've got the latest Desktop Video from BMD (9.7.5), and MC 7.0 with Symphony Option..
My main edit system is my 2009 MacPro Tower, 2.26 GHz, 8 core. Trimming with BMD card video out there is a definite lag - turn off video out the lag is shorter, but it's still there.
I then installed MC on my wife's MBP laptop as a test, and software only trimming is very quick and fluid. Sort of sucks having to go back to my main edit system because I know trimming could be a whole lot better

Hi there,
We abandoned these with MC 6.5.3 and earlier versions and tried several
versions of driver including the latest 9.7.5 . PC z400's
They work OK for capturing/playout etc, but the trim is way too slow for
real editing.
We haven't tried with v7 yet
AJA seem much better at that although more expensive and less features.
Also as a side note, I think with any of these 3rd party cards you can't
reliably use the cards RS422 which took us sometime to figure out.

Avid 6 and 6.5
Switched from Decklink Studio to AJA Kona because trimming was abysmal and
sluggish.
I hear its better with latest driver and MC 7, but I don't know first hand.
