I was recently informed by a broadcast tech how Ver. 6.5 will make the XDCam HD files without all the fake volumes of empty XDCam. Has anybody used this?
Here's what I was sent from the network engineer:
Instructions for Media Composer 5.0 5.5
(This may work on even older versions I have only tested it on 5.5)
You can export an XDCAM HD OP1a MXF file. The audio and video is interleaved so it's a single file.
Place a blank XDCAM HD folder structure on your desktop. (I attached the XDCam folder structure to the email)
Use Link to AMA volume and select the empty XDCAM folder on your desktop. A bin will open and an error dialog that no clips were found. Click Okay
Close the bin and delete it.
Select a Sequence or clip and Output > Export to Device > XDCAM
XDCAM Settings are XDCAM50
Under Target XDCAM Disk, Select the path for the AMA Volume (It should default to the XDCAM folder on your desktop).
Click OK.
This will create an XDCAM HD OP1a MXF file in the clip folder that can be played by the XDCAM Viewer and imported back into Media Composer.
The clip will have the correct Time code of the sequence or clip.
What this won't do is create a whole XDCAM HD disk, with the Proxy etc. The clip in this folder will not work with AMA.
It will also write over any clip that's added. If C0001 is in the clip folder, and another clip is written to the folder, it will be written over with no prompting. So you have to do 1 sequence at a time.
Instructions for Media Composer 6.0 CURRENT
You should be able to export the sequence like you would any other export.
Click your sequence and select FILE>Export
