[Avid-L2] Re: Stuff I wish they'd fix

Sad indeed. As I watch a crippled Resolve bay work with only the built in monitor waveform on the panny program monitor and color correct for a cable network show. Does it work? yes. Is it right? no. In my opinion I would require the company to rent me an outboard scope so I can have a more reasonable confidence that things are okay. I feel it falls on the operators to stand by their standards and tell the production companies that having a scope is a bare minimum especially in a Resolve color correction suite. Unfortunately there a many misinformed "operators" out there that don't know any better. Sad but true.

Curious how useful you find the Ultrascope error logging. I've used it but found their presets lit up like a Xmas tree on shows that were properly safe color limited. I found it necessary to detune the preset in order to not be hit with a deluge of unnecessary errors logged. The truth be told I've found the same true with most every error logging scope but setting the Tektronix to default which is now factory set a 1% area instead of their original 0% area works the best for me. But then I'm a scope snob and proud of it. I used the vector scope waveform combo and the Tek 1750 multi display and they were great when all I had were 4 TBC knobs but now with the extra controls I'm afforded I take advantage of the Tek Diamond display and YRGB and expanded vector scopes. It speeds me up have them all up in a Quad display on a big enough monitor so they are roughly the same size as the older CRT display scopes. Time is money and my scope has easily paid for itself and it affords me the option of bringing it along when facilities don't have a scope I like. That's just me your friendly neighborhood Scope Snob. And I have an aja Gen 10 SPG at $400.00 bucks it's worth it for the rare times I need one.

I just like the ultrascope as a good enough solution that delivers a lot of value.

Hmmm ResEdit? I might look at that! But seriously its not an omni tech or a too range engineering textrivix scope but neither were ev, hamlet, etc etc and I've had to use those many times over the years.
