Welcome to my current nightmare. I've found the AAF out of Resolve gives me pipe errors so it's useless on the project I've been dealing with. My project only has about 16 clips most of which are over an hour for the source material. Given that simplicity I was able to make an aaf from Avid that was linked ama to the Red R3D Epic files. Take that aaf into Resolve and in Resolve after manually importing the 16 clips into the media pool I was able to manually rename the reel names to match the tape names from Avid. After that rendering out the individual files to DNX 220 they had the proper tape names when brought into avid so the original sequence would relink to them. From my limit experience on this project it appears that you have to set the conform option of "Use Drop Frame" prior to bringing in any media. It seems like the source material has to be all non drop or all drop frame but I haven't been able to confirm this yet. Whatever that setting is set to is the time code format of the clips Resolve will Render out even if it differs from what the original clip actually is. Source wise my project is simple but it's still a complete nightmare. The round tripping is highly problematic at best. Under controlled circumstances I could see it working but the kind of shows I work on are never that controlled.
