yo,
First of all I wonder if you are using a Symphony with Open I/O AJA-KONA3?
I have seen these messages on an Avid Symphony Version 6.5.2 with Open I/O using an AJA-KONA3:
Exception: AMAProducerTask::Execute: AMA Plug-In Unable to Provide Sample
and
"The Software License is no longer activated" and the Avid would quit.
The only way I could stop those Avid messages using an AMA .R3D files linked to a sequence that was once linked to DNxHD36. Was to not load the sequence into the source record monitors and then Transcode the sequences a .MXF file.
If I had to check the files, on the linked AMA sequence I could get the fast forward and rewind buttons to barely work. Just telling you what I have seen.
For this online situation:
I noticed that the Avid gave me those errors consistently after I told the Avid not to link to the DNxHD36 and Link to the AMA .R3D camera masters.
Basically, I would link up all the new AMA .R3D sources, I would then load the sequence in and try my best to plow through it to make sure everything matched using the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons. I then transcoded the Sequence to .MXF files.
Once the transcode was done those errors went away.
now for some fun:
The first 16 characters in the .R3D is also the name of the folder, and the embedded reel number in the .R3D files (Avid calls what Resolve calls Reel Number the "Tape" name). The Avid unfortunately, because of the "SourceFile" column will not read the embedded Reel Number (Avid calls it this Tape Name") from any AMA source by default.
So the Avid "Source" icon that is used for the source for EDLs and AAFs, should be named in the appropriate manner that you see fit to set up the configuration settings in Resolve. When the digital dailies happened a name was put as the "Source" icon name.
The "Source" icon name for .R3D files
Problem) If you just have the first 16 characters - minus the _001 for the "Source" icon name.
Solution) In the Resolve set up the following:
1) Launch Resolve 9
2) In DaVinci Resolve 9 - click on the gear icon at the bottom left of the screen (this is the "project settings" button. by clicking this button the "Project Settings" is revealed)
3) Click on the "Master Project Settings" Panel and scroll down to the "Conform Options" in the right hand area of the "project settings" dialog box
4) Next to the words - Use Timecode: Put a bullet next to "Embedded in the source clip"
5) Put a check mark, by clicking next to "Assist using reel names from the:"
6) Put a bullet, by clicking next to "Embedding in Source clip file"
7) Click apply
This will configure the Resolve to use just the first 16 characters in the .R3D file because the Resolve will now extract the embedded Reel Number (Avid calls the "Tape" name) from with in the .R3D file. So you will not see under "Reel No" in the media pool a _001
Problem) If you just have the first 16 character plus the _001 as the "Source" icon name.
6) Put a bullet, by clicking next to "Source clip file name"
7) Click apply
This will configure the Resolve to use the file name of your .R3D files and includes the _001 from the .R3D file name and makes that the embedded Reel Number (Avid calls the "Tape" name).
Again this configuration gives you the first 16 characters in the .R3D file plus the _001
I hope this is helpful
