Hi Martin:
I think someone else in this thread suggested you look into Squeeze,
which is bundled with Avid, which does have an option for dealing with
709 levels. You need to enable the option " input video is RGB16-256".
I had trouble with Squeeze at one point doing clean encodes of 24p
material, so I gave up using it, but they probably fixed that at some
point (or if you're doing 29.97 you shouldn't have an issue.)
If Squeeze works for you, you will be able to skip the encode to ProRes.
