The workflow that's always worked for me:
Transcode .r3d in RCX to DNxHD 36 for offline.
Move created media to your Avid MediaFiles folder.
Import created AAFs to an Avid bin.
Apply created ALE to the new clips in your bin.
Create your edit.
Decompose your edit.
Take the newly decomposed master clips and sort them by tape.
Highlight all .r3d sources and drag them into a new sequence.
Output an edl (file 16) of newly created sequence.
Import EDL into RCX and link to original media.
Transcode media to DNxHD 220 (X).
Move new media into Avid MediaFiles folder.
Open up the Media tool and copy drag new media into a new bin.
Apply ALE to new master clips.
Highlight new master clips.
right click on original decomposed sequence.
Relink to all selected items in bin.
Hopefully I haven't missed a step... Seems like a very convoluted process
when you write it out.
