[Avid-L2] software license transfer fee (Marianna?)

 

So I see the software license transfer fee is still listed on the Avid
website. $100 for MC Soft, $400 for Symphony.

What are the downsides of buying a dongle from someone without doing the
official software transfer through Avid? Would there be a problem with
future upgrades, or anything significant like that?
