[Avid-L2] Re: AMA link to Red Epic ISO 1600?

 

The Red camera stores RAW data so the ISO is just a metadata setting.

The light that hits the sensor is only controlled by the iris and any NDs
applied.

Sounds to me like the iris may have been closed down to increase DPF causing
less light in.

So in Avid you can access that RAW data and change the ISO or FLUT and
effectively re-map the levels.

But with RAW data what you have is what you have.

If they set the ISO high on set their monitoring output would look brighter
so maybe that encouraged them to close the iris down but who shots on Red
and not use the RGB histograms?
