Re: [Avid-L2] Woeful AMA links situation

I read about a work-around of making a new bin, populating it with the desired clips then attempting to do (plain) reLink to get "empty" AMA clips to see the media there. I must have it wrong because ReLink seems to be all about Avid media only.

Hi Michael (all),

Things have calmed down enough for me to revisit all this. Using MC5.0.3 I did not succeed following Michael's suggestion - there was no relinking/refreshing for the orig bin after bringing the AMA files on-line in a temp bin.

Then I found a thread (web) called "Batch relink Ama Footage (just like in FCP ?" a guy named Hector had a nice guide that had me select the "empty" AMA clips and reLink (window) with the all important check next to "Allow Relinking to Imported/AMA clips by source files name - nada. Even though the same AMA clips were there in the open Temp bin

After a test I can better describe the lack of batch reLinking - I could select all the "empty" AMA clips in a bin and did have the option to select ReLink AMA but when your get to the source card/folder, you can only select one clip at a time -and there might be hundreds of clips! This is really rubbed in your face when you go to cancel out and realize you have to cancel several dozen or hundred times!! (I don't know how one would do an abort all) It's done on a file by feel basis, not practical

That's where I left off with this, suggestions welcome

Best,

Paul
