Re: [Avid-L2] Re: QT video levels?

Since (I think) v5, MC has had a nice provision for this. As some have
mentioned before (but perhaps I can help clarify), if you link via AMA,
video levels come in untouched. You can change this if you like by
right-clicking the clip in the bin and choosing Set Source Settings. You'll
notice that the default is Do Not Modify Levels. Your other options are
Expand Video levels to Graphics Levels and Compress Graphics to Video
Levels. Simple, and effective.

This is only an option on clips that are not Avid native codecs. For Avid
native codecs, MC is skillful at recognizing what the actual levels are as
encoded (usually 709 video) and maintaining those accurately.
