Re: [Avid-L2] Re: QT video levels?

 

I, too, have been poking about in this murky pond (Media Composer Mac 6.5.2.1) - a student wishes to send an Avid sequence to Apple Color (this can be done with a QuickTime and an associated EDL). But - Color does not seem to recognise DNxHD and treats any ProRes as RGB even if exported from Media Composer as 709. Briefly, I found that some apps recognise the 709 flag and some don't:

Same as Source exports (709 or RGB) - if codec is ProRes - both interpreted as RGB in QTX, Color and After Effects.

If exported as DNxHD, looks like Color and QTX interpret both as RGB levels but QT7 and After Effects do recognise the different levels so the 709 exports are correct.
