Wow, thanks everyone for all the replys. Ryan said drop the ProRes qt into the MediaFile folder, what is the first version of MC that allows this?
When David says "you can encode to DNx on any Mac or PC for free…" other than the Avid which we own already, what converts to DNx for free? (see nest item)
I'd like to hear more particulars about Bouke's use of ANY qt compatible encoder, using applescript or otherwise to make DNxHD
Looming in the background are questions about any workflow that prevent easy tracing or reconnecting back to original camera directories. It's easy to say transcode and don't look back but expecting a producer to be custodian of all the post-production files is wishful thinking. Even hanging on to the original camera directories is elusive in a world of mislabeled, recycled and failed hard drives.
