This usually falls into the realm of larger "big-iron" facilities, but...
Is anyone out there using any type of "drag-and-drop" delivery for their
client deliverables?
I a very much stuck in the "web 1.0" world when it comes to delivering my
deliverables to my clients. I'm constantly encoding several different
flavors of web video (WMV, MP4, MOV) because they have multiple uses for
their files. Or, more often, they ask for one thing, but really need
something else.
We love the billable hours, but the workflow involves authoring the review
page in Dreamweaver, encoding the file, posting it, blah, blah, blah..
What I would LOVE to do is upload one nice bit fat h.264 to a server (cloud
or local) and then have the client select their favorite download flavor,
and they get what they need. Wether this encodes to multiple flavors and
then automatically notifies the client, or if it encodes "on demand", I
really don't care.
Chances are I may have some of the components in house, but we're not using
them properly. I have Compressor and Adobe Media Encoder installed (AME on
a PC would be easily done) and I have access to old versions of Episode and
Squeeze.
If it's just a matter of setting up a bunch of "watch folders", yipee. I'd
be thrilled.
Any tips or solutions would be appreciated. VARs are welcome to pitch their
wares as well!
