RE: [Avid-L2] [OT] DCP File Creation

We sell Clipster in the UK (specifically I am the presales tech guy) and
I LOVE that machine.

Bouke, I love your contributions to the list and I know where you are
coming from, but the hardware in the Clipster (three board's worth)
dwarfs all the other DCP package making solutions. The Fuze (Clipster's
cheaper little brother) and the Clipster TEAR through data and the
German's are very good at adhering to standards ;-)

Making a DCP is a meticulous and pitfall strewn path and Clipster is
fast and accurate. Currently a Gen5 machine will make a 2K 2D DCP with
subtitles at 100fps and it will look right!

If you want to make life easy for yourself, Ben, start with a 16bit RGB
TIFF sequence (whatever system you use to make the DCP) as that is where
you should start according to the DCI. That way you stand the best
chance of avoiding operator error and software error as the colourspace
transform and gamma should work going from 16bit RGB TIFFs to X'Y'Z' on
all these systems

Thanks Agustin -- much appreciated.
I'm still waiting to hear if I have to be the one to oversee this.

Cheers!
