I decided to try to use the new iMac for a compression in Sorenson Squeeze 8.1 linking to my older iMac over home wifi. All worked well on the surface. My normal routine is to export a QT ref from avid mc 5.5.3. Then use QT Change to add TC burn in and then compress to QT lg prog peset in Sorenson 4.5 and all is well. When I tried the same on the new iMac with Sorenson 8.1 I got no audio and no Time Code burn in. After playing around I found if I moved the folder containing the QT ref from the old iMacs desktop to the new iMacs desktop with included the .aiffs that are created when Avid spits out the QT ref I could get audio. I know over the years I've read about varying results with QT refs over a network. It's frustrating because I could actually play the .mov down in Sorenson 8.1 and hear audio and see the time code burn in but after compressing neither was there. At least I sorted out the audio by getting it on the local machine but
the Time Code burning from QT change only appears when I play it in the sorenson window on 8.1 but the compress output hasn't got it. I know QT change uses a text track and that's why it's getting lost but how come the older Sorenson 4.5 will maintain the time code burn in but not Sorenson 8.1? Something must have changed under the hood.
