Re: [Avid-L2] [OT] Group Clip Processing Question

I agree with you David. Even Avid's Help relates:
"You can remove the grouped clips in a sequence and replace each of them with its selected clip. This might be useful if you experience poor performance with a very complex MultiCamera sequence on a slower system, for example, a sequence that uses many MultiCamera clips and many effects or color corrections."

I took that to mean playback both within and outside of MutliCamera Mode. However, there was some question about if this was true *outside* of MultiCam mode (so I'll be rewording the sentence I was asking everyone about).

And like you, I also thought the only reason to "Commit" was due to performance issues (that's what she said -- badda boom). But, I've just been schooled by an associate at Avid that another issue is that it ensures that only the video and/or audio media that is actually used in the Sequence is included in an AAF file export (with embedded media). Without doing the "Commit" he relates that, "...all of the media from every clip in the groups is included in the AAF, and it just balloons."

Thanks everyone!

Benjamin
