For monitoring, you'll be safe. I used to use a pair for that, worked fine.
For output, it would be risky, since both work with D-A and A-D conversions (analog in, digital processing, analog out), and neither the ADC's nor the DAC's on the unit are jammed to a common reference, there could easily be some phase-shifting, as the channels would not be sample-accurate to each other.
