[Avid-L2] Re: Preferred 3rd party I/O?

With the I/O express does the built in down convert work with MC/Symphony? Sounds like from this thread the control panel options, which I'm only familiar with Kona 2 and Kona 3 with FCP, are not available while under Avid control. I assume that turning on the downconvert option in the video tool doesn't work or maybe it's not even an option when using the I/O Express. You know what would be really great is if the Nitris DX could also be used with other NLE's etc... Kinda like when there was some sort of support around the Avid Studio days to play After Effects, or what ever app it was, out through the mojo. That went away but if something like that came back I would think the extra bucks for the Nitris might not be such a deal breaker. I really like having LTC to drive my Tek scope for error logging etc... and that doesn't work with third parties as far as I know.

Both have been fine, I prefer the K3 for no good reason other than I like AJA's control application better, but for our uses it offers no advantage over the IO Express. We have not seen the problems Terry's mentioned with the K3- but I'm not the main user of that particular machine, so I can't really comment further.
