Re: [Avid-L2] Staff cuts and selling the Consumer side

2004: "Avid Technology announced the acquisition of M-Audio... Avid is paying US$80 million in cash, 2 million shares stock (valued at approximately $83 million), the assumption of some 350,000 options at M-Audio, and between $20 million and $25 million in earnouts based on financial milestones."

2005: "Under the terms of the agreement, Pinnacle shareholders will receive .0869 shares of Avid stock and $1.00 in cash for each Pinnacle share. At closing, it is expected that Avid will issue approximately 6.2 million shares and pay $71.3 million in cash, for a total estimated value of $462 million based on Avid's stock price of $62.95 at market close on Friday, March 18, 2005."

Any more sandbags left to drop from this balloon?

Four years ago they sold off Softimage for $35 million, having acquired it for $285 million back in 1998 - now this is more of the same just even worse. From $650 million to around $21 million in seven years? This is loss on a massive scale.

It's very sad seeing such a brilliant company with so many great ideas and concepts being slowly pulled apart by a disillusioned management and incompetent marketing.

Good luck to everyone having to leave this time - and good luck to those staying too.
