First thing, if you have a system that is running fine then pull the system the editor is working on and put in one of the systems that is working fine. Give the crap system to someone else until you can figure out what is wrong with it.
Second, I believe that the Caldigit VR has it's own management software. Go check all the settings for the drive and make sure that there isn't some setting that is having it spin down.
