Ya, test. The newest Epics have a new fan that's quieter than those in earlier Epics. Your production may want to make sure they have the newest or upgraded cameras. Here's more info on the upgrade program:

Once they are sure they will be working with upgraded Epics, they should definitely do a bench test as Oliver suggests. On some RED Cameras, during a 10-20 minute take (ie- interview) in a not-hot location, the fans go to 100% (aka- hairdryer mode). For the test make sure ambient temp matches or exceeds what you'll find at the location and that any camera gak is attached to the body. I wonder if the camera will spontaneously shut down after a certain point (as sometimes happened with earlier RED cameras). Maybe figure out how to attach icegel packs to cool the camera.
But that's not your problem...
