CatDV is pricey? Have you looked at other Asset Management systems?

A small facility (Aka editor working in the basement at home) could get by with just the simple database tools that ship free with the cache-a. If youre a SAN based workgroup or broadcaster, the pricey catdv is the way to go.
You'll need an IT guy to manage it before long.
