Steve, the ability to customize a *bunch* of things (including Project bkgd) was removed around version 4 (I believe). Steve, how did you miss all my griping? ;) I agree with you 100% about the project window. I used to make mine slightly off-white. It was a change made in the Interface settings.
I just installed v6 last night and tried changing the bkgd color of my Timeline to black (which I like) and it didn't take. No other color did either. That's about all the testing I had time for. When my current job is done later next week, I'll test some more.
And for what it's worth: Avid, PLEASE bring back all the interface customizations we had in the past (and more). It really does make a difference when I/we have to work with it for 12 hours a day.
