Re: [Avid-L2] Re: uncompressed hd quicktimes for color correct

well, i recently did a job shot with an Ikegami and 5D
I'll take the Ike over the 5D stuff always. Image is noticable better, and
it's a real production cam.
(and yes, it is 10 times more expensive, but the productivity on a normal
shooting day is more than 10 times as high, and post is way easier (however
still a hell with Avid, as it does not support GFcam, unlike the manual
says...)

Examples (spot the 5D stuff) here

(do switch to HD...)

Forget all this native editing nonsense with Canon 1D/5D/7D footage. Follow
the workflow I've outlined here and you won't get burned.

As far as color correction, I have done quite a few jobs mixing Alexa and 5D
footage, which were graded on Baselight. The Alexa files are ProRes4444 and
the 5D files get converted to ProRes. The graded footage all comes back as
ProRes4444. The 5D intercuts nicely, although it's used for tight, hand-held
close-ups.
