Having noted and appreciated the well written and extremely
polite posts of Mr. Shufflebottom over the years, I hope Avid
realizes that when the functioning of Composer makes Roger write
"WTF," it is the equivalent of 500-1000 words of vitriol from
most of us.

taken over from the editors somewhat on this release.
Now the Superbin is gone, I've already pointed out that you can't
open another bin into the designated tabbed bin window. On a
laptop, having many bins open as tabs mean that the bin names are
truncated as the display area reduces as each extra bin is
dragged in. Also (maybe already noted), If we wish to drag clips
from one bin to another (already open) tabbed bin, we can't
without dragging that bin out of the tabbed window, dragging
clips across and then dragging the bin back into the tabbed bin
window. WTF? With the Superbin, we could simply drag the clips on
to another bin name in the Project window. Done, in one
operation.
Other observations:
1) Selecting 'Volume' (AKA 'Auto gain') for a Timeline display, I
don't see a level overlay until the first KF is added. Is this by
design or a bug? This is Mac OS 10.6.8. Showing Clip levels
displays the overlay immediately.
2) Now we can see multiple effects in the Effect Editor and drag
them to change priority (well, with some of them), it is about
time we could drag further effects directly into the Effect
Editor instead of alt-dragging to a clip in the Timeline or
stepping in.
3) Now that most effects are RT (green dot), maybe it is time
that the dot colouring convention was modified to indicate which
effects do NOT have keyframe graphs (Paint etc) as this would
help those editors new to MC and lacking the knowledge as to how
and why we got here.
4) And finally - why are Locators suddenly Markers? Maybe Avid
are retaliating because FCP-X calls a Project an Event and a
Sequence a Project? Following this logic, I imagine that bins
will be next for the chop. Bin? Why should I store my good stuff
in a bin?
Oh - and the GUI looks very flat and dull. As others have noted,
can we please have a choice of button contours back again? And
the text in the contextual menus looks verrry small on my 27"
iMac (and cannot be changed as far as I can see).
