You could use adium which supports pretty much all instant messenging
protocols. Create an account for each machine and set it to autologon.
If you like you could us ichat on the Macs and adium on the PCs

Maybe use the inbuilt (UMN) Broadcast Message for quick msgs to specific
or general users. No scheduled msgs though, AFAIK.
