Hi,
I've had very bad experiences going out of avid to prores or any other quicktime codecs that are not avid codecs. Watch your black and gamma levels...
Although maybey theoretically not the best option ( compression etc). I would suggest the DNxHD workflow to the grading. The result is the best and most efficient option in this case. ( besides conforming your 5d in FCP or 3rd party app like 5Dtorgb).
If it is possible to get it back from the grading as uncompressed HD ( Baselight does it very well, some grading software will ruin your work...) That's an option too when you need to do some compositing later.
Best,
Bart

I export the same sequence as dnx 175 10bit, that qt is not fuzzy but nice and crisp...but I would really like to be making an uncompressed qt not dnx as I am going to need to composite over these after the color correct and recompress as dnx for final output
