Next question, how are we supposed to insert AFD into files. This is so much fun. Here are the file delivery requirements from Fox:
HD File Format Specifications
1. Files shall be wrapped in GXF (SMPTE RDD 14-2007)
2. The GXF files shall be "simple clip format"
3. The GXF files shall have one "MPEG-2 HD" video track
a. The video track shall have the following description tags:
i. Frame rate: 59.94 frames/sec
ii. Lines per frame: 720; Fields per frame: Progressive
b. MPEG-2 video essence:
i. 1280 × 720 pixels at 59.94p
ii. 4:2:2 profile @ high level; 50-80 Mbps (preferred) or 4:2:0 main profile @ high level; 30-80 Mbps
4. The GXF files shall have eight "Audio PCM 16" (16 bits @ 48 kHz PCM) or eight "Audio PCM 24" (24 bits @ 48 kHz PCM) channels.
5. The GXF files shall have one Ancillary data track and shall carry the following data:
a. CEA-708 captions in CDP as per SMPTE 334-2 carried in VANC as per SMPTE 334-1
b. AFD and Bar Data information as per SMPTE 2016-1, carried in VANC as per SMPTE 2016-3
c. If available, Audio Metadata per SMPTE 2020-1-2008 carried in VANC as per SMPTE 2020-2-2008
6. The GXF files shall have one "Time Code 525" track (see Metadata section)
