RE: [Avid-L2] V6 Unity

I'm guessing this is a MAC only problem, but was hoping for a bit of avid
clarification as this seems to be a major change.

Ok, Robert sent me the ReadMe file. I looked through it and did some
testing. In house I have a Unity File Manager 5.1.3. I set up a Mac Media
Composer system to be an Ethernet client. It is

MacPro 2x2.93 Quad
OSX 10.7.0
Connection Manager 5.3.3
MC 5.5.3

For sharing bins it seems to be working fine. Which means that the only
workspace I mount is the one with the projects on it and has no media on it.
It doesn't like some of the non-standard characters we use to force bin
order, but I can live with that.

The problem starts with I mount a workspace with media on it and then open a
bin that has clips that point to that media. There is much unhappiness.
DEA.framework errors and other MainThread errors happen. And media never
comes on-line.

So I hope that the reason v6 is not listed as supporting Ethernet clients is
because they don't have Ethernet clients working yet under Lion and are
currently working on it. And will very hopefully release it in the very near
future.

I will probably wait to see how the new Fibre Manger works once MC v6 is
released.

Thank you Robert for sending me that ReadMe file.

read me on page 10. That's available in the download center.
