I say:
MC v5.0.x cannot use ANY 3rd party hardware; it can only use Avid
hardware (or none at all). Partly, what I think David referred to was
the desire to add 3rd party hardware to a 6.0 system by some users.
However, that assumption is not a foregone conclusion. A 6.0 system
could still operate as software only.
He also is referring to the most rigid MC v6.0 limitation: The need
to run Lion and 64-bit. If the platform can't run 64-bit & Lion, MC
6.0 is a no go. But this STILL assumes that the user doesn't have a
computer capable of running 64-bit Lion. Many can run it; even
computers from a few years ago (I think mine can and it's 5 years old,
but I haven't tried installing Lion yet). So IF you don't have a 64-
bit & Lion-capable computer, you'll have to spend more to make use of
MC 6.0. That's a lot of ifs.
