I vainly attempt:

Walter, I vaguely recall something about this on old Meridien Avids
when clip metadata did not match the actual tape recording. The
problem is in the bin's clip data itself that doesn't match the tape
in some way. I think you understand this, but if you open the menu in
the lower left corner of each bin, you can choose additional columns
of data that may explain the difference between what's not matching.
Just a wild guess: is the time code of each clip in the bin showing
as dropframe while the tape actually plays non-drop (or vice versa)?
That alone can cause this mismatch problem.
