Does your car have 8-tracks or a plug for an mp3 player? :-)
I can have a sequence open in the source monitor, scrub through it edit from it and even see it in the timeline AND have another sequence in the Record monitor, scrub through it and see it in the timeline and edit to it SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Can I be playing or scrubbing BOTH sequences at the same time? No. But what would be the point. FCP can't do that either. Actually with Avid you can at least GANG the two sequences, so that they KIND of play at the same time.
I'm not getting your distinction when it comes to actual real-world work.
In the end the ACTUAL reason behind the post is someone who just wants to jump between sequences in different PROJECTS quickly. Avid does that faster than FCP, though it can be argued that it's the reverse is true.
Personally I prefer Avid's sequence management over FCPs because sometimes I end up with so many versions of sequences open in FCP that I find that I'm working on the wrong sequence. With Avid, usually you have just one sequence open and it's very obvious which one it is.
