[Avid-L2] firewire deck control??

 

I was going to pick up an old DSR-45 and start digitizing all my family mini dv videos so I can get them to dvd. But I'm concerned I the old firewire 400 won't talk to the 800 ports on the current MacBook Pro. is anyone using these decks with MC on their current MacBooks? Do you have deck control?
