Hey Tony,

I can't speak for the New York market but here in San Diego my experience is that the rates really depend on the client. I have standard rates and some customers pay them, other flat can't afford them, so there's times when the rate has to goes down to get the work.

As for broadcast vs. corporate... oddly enough I am actually charging my main broadcast client less of an hourly rate than my main corporate client. However the broadcast client has a pretty consistent stream of work that just shows up in my shop. I will gladly lower the rate for a client like that, it saves me money when you factor in the cost of constantly chasing down the corporate work.
