I recently finished reading Timeline 2, which is all about the birth and growth of non-linear
editing. Having been there when it started, it was absolutely fascinating to see what was
really going on behind the the scenes with companies like Adobe, Data Translation(Media 100),
EMC etc. and people like Randy Ubillos who developed Premiere and went on to create
Final Cut for Apple. It shines with little known facts like Media 100 trying to buy Final Cut
because it worked on a PC and they were afraid Apple would be going out of business.
All and all and amazing research effort by John and a great read if you're interested in
these things.
In fact, I got an email from Basil Pappas the other day at 3AM saying he just got the
book and couldn't stop reading it.
Full disclosure, both Basil and myself were interviewed for and appear in the book.
We were great:-)

Subject: [Avid-L2] OT Commercial Editing Book
I have just completed writing a book about the history of electronic editing called "Timeline".
It is available over two volumes at the Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Sony Reader stores. It includes the detailed evolution of Avid from Bill's kitchen table to industry powerhouse, as well as Avid's competitors and predecessors. I hope you get a chance to read it and give me feedback.
For more information please feel free to visit the website www.timelinebook.tumblr.com
Thanks for everyone's help.
